Who "invented" Wildfire?

Ha HA! We were hoping we could lure you into asking that question. Indulge us for a moment.

Jesus Christ intended to launch a movement that would establish His Kingdom on earth for thousands of years. And yet He did it in a very strange way. He never ran for political office; He never wrote a book; He never even traveled 180 miles from His home town. Faced with the urgency of training the thousands of people needed to launch a movement which was destined to change the course of human civilization, Jesus invested four years of His life in training 12 men. He took the "seminary" to the students! The primary aspect of Jesus' training was His time with His students. As they watched Him model the Christian life and ministry, they were transformed into a radical band of spiritual revolutionaries who literally changed the world.

Fast forward to England in the eighteenth century. That's the point in history when John Wesley was busy implementing the principles of "Wildfire" education. A key factor in Wesley's ministry was teaching village pastors. He traveled to his students on horseback and slept in the lofts of the farmhouses. His students had no dormitories. His classrooms were the countryside and cottage kitchens. Wesley organized his students into classes of about 12 people. He expected his students to give eight hours daily to sleeping and eating, eight hours to study, prayer and meditation, and eight to preaching, visitation and social work. The leaders he trained impacted the culture of England for over a generation.

And those aren't the only examples of "Wildfire" training in history. So let's just say it's less about having "invented" anything than just carrying on one extremely effective tradition.
